读书疑义一则

J.M. Roberts《The New History of the World》925页："Mao seems to have continued to cooperate with the Kuomingtang longer than other Chinese communists just because it was more sympathetic to the organization of the peasants than was his own party." 其中“it”是否应为“he”，指Mao？如果确是“it”，难道指Kuomingtang？那么Kuomingtang was more sympathetic to the peasant than the Communist Party？
